Onecom was formed in 2013 when Darren Ridge's Premier Telecom and Aaron Brown's Business Phones Direct came together. It launched as a £40m business with nearly 300 people. Today it is the UK's largest independent business communications provider.
Growth came from two engines running at once: disciplined organic expansion and a programme of more than 25 acquisitions, including a merger with its closest rival, Olive Communications, in 2021. In 2019 it signed the largest partner deal in Vodafone's history, worth up to £600m, and secured £100m of backing from LDC and Ares.
Onecom has been Vodafone's Strategic Partner of the Year for 16 consecutive years. In May 2026 co-founder Aaron Brown became Group CEO, with Darren Ridge on the board as a non-executive director.
